EMMA DIBBEN
Paintings by famous Waitrose illustrator Emma Dibben. These illustrations are real collectors items. Emma grew up in Sheffield, early on discovering a love of nature in the surrounding Peak District. An urge to live by the sea took her to Cornwall in 2001 where she studied at Falmouth College of Arts. This included a term studying etching and stone lithography at The Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, under the Erasmus program. Whilst working on both reportage and editorial projects she discovered her love of still life and food illustration. On graduating in 2004, with a First Class BA (Hons) Degree, Emma moved to Bristol and moved into Jamaica Street Studios. Based in the heart of city, the studios and thriving artistic community form a integral part of the Bristol art scene.Commissions soon followed and saw her creating images for prestigious clients including Waitrose, The Guardian and the BBC. Emma has become well known for her splatters, fingerprints and splodges, (You may recognize her work from the Waitrose Bag for Life), a visual language that she has carefully developed and is now part of her trademark style.
Emma's love of nature and the desire to live a low impact life have resulted in a deep love and satisfaction for growing her own food.Emma delights in nurturing unusual varieties on her allotment that she can then draw in her studio before taking home to eat, a happy cycle. The natural world is Emma's inspiration and a deep respect for it informs the ethical framework which she strives to work within. Her work is much sought after and attracts book publishers and designers with commissions from the likes of Canongate, Hodder & Stoughton and Penguin. You can buy original art works and limited edition giclee prints. Emma exhibits both locally and internationally.
