GREG RAMSDEN
BIOGRAPHY
Greg Ramsden trained at Sheffield University under the realist painter George Shaw who was one of the 2011 Turner prize nominees.
He is the youngest Academician in the South West Academy of Fine Art.
Greg's latest body of work consists of large canvases in mixed medias exploring the different lights and tones of the ocean, rivers and beaches in and arround Salcombe. His smaller paintings (some completed on location) are a search for understanding of the different atmospheres the seasonal light and weather has on the landscape of south Devon. Greg's work vibrates with rich textures made from observations of the rhythms and cycles that exist in the changing seasons. The energy and life in the small town of Salcombe has become his main source of inspiration.
