BRISTOL CONTEMPORARY ART “SUPERNATURE” exhibition in the Glasswalk, Cabot Circus 31st May to 29th June 2014
“Supernature” brings together around 20 artists from Bristol, Cambridge, Cornwall and London, all working within the theme of the magnificence of nature. Some choose to focus on the beauty of the wild, more local British landscape, some choose to flaunt an array of distinctly exotic imagery. Dolores De Sade, on the other hand, prefers to take mundane aspects of British life, such as roadside café’s, incongruous looking trees, plants and rocks that she finds in such places and brings them together to form mysterious exotic landscapes that look like they were taken straight from the jungle.
BCA artist Abigail McDougall, best known here for her “Bristol in a different light” watercolours, has been working on a series of local plein air paintings, made directly by the side of the river Frome, around the Snuff Mills area of Bristol. These new works represent a shift from her mostly urban scenes, to a depiction of the much wilder, more secret areas of the city.
“We are extremely excited about the talent of the artists we are going to be exhibiting in this show, as they are progressing in their careers, their work is getting more and more stunning. We have just started to represent several new artists from other parts of the country, all of whom have all sorts of awards and fantastic achievements to their name”. Leah Heming, director of Bristol Contemporary Art.
This will be the third pop- up exhibition that Bristol Contemporary Art have put on, following the launch on Park Street in 2011 and the “Storytelling” exhibition in Cabot Circus in 2012, part of the Bristol Biennial. The gallery hopes to move into exhibiting at art fairs nationally and internationally, starting with the Bristol Affordable Art fair this September.

Every day from 30th May to 29th June.
Opening times:
