We visited Abigail McDougall's vibrant and colourful studio as she is busy preparing some wonderful new artworks for our upcoming shows at Brussels Affordable Art Fair 2016 in February and Battersea Affordable Art Fair 2016 in March.
Her new series of paintings are inspired by visits and sketches to botanical and exotic gardens in Morocco, Vienna, Cornwall, Kew in London and the Bristol Botanical gardens. She captures surreal atmospheres with light and reflections on the water sometimes disorienting the viewer.
Abigail is always pushing the boundaries of watercolour and has been experimenting with the unusual technique of painting watercolour on board. She then finishes the paintings with a varnish to give the painting an extra feeling of immersion.
